The Day Arrived: Holidays this year, what’s the deal?!

Well, this year's holiday vibes at home have been different then usual. The silver lining? The kids are living their best holiday life and making memories. Meanwhile, yours truly has been MIA thanks to RSV, Whooping Cough, and a delightful surprise of Lyme disease on top of Sarcoidosis.

It wouldn’t have been right to spread my germs and turn the family gathering into a medical episode. I sent gifts for family and made them some “Christmas crack” to enjoy. Then my MIL and I indulged in some Italian cuisine and binge-watched holiday flicks instead. After the family Christmas Eve festivities, the kids and Tom returned home so we could all wake up together on Christmas morning. And let’s not forget, Tom and Ella had to hit the road for Nationals in Florida. They opted to drive because, honestly, the amount of gear for softball tournaments is no joke! 😂 The fees to check everything would have cost more than flights!

Both kids hit the jackpot this holiday season! They tore into all the Christmas and Hanukkah gifts and were lucky enough to get most of the stuff on their wishlists! Ella's off to who-knows-where for the rest of Hanukkah, so we had to make it count!

Watching Tom and Ella hit the road was a real bummer since I had my heart set on making some unforgettable memories. It's been all while since Ella got to play on the field due to her injury, so I was excited to see her back up on the mound. I guess I will be seeing her on game-changer. Sad reality is that leaving close to home right now is not dr recommended due to my trusty nebulizer and knees that could rival a century-old lady. I’m lucky to have fellow team moms heading down who will take pics and watch out for my girl. It is just me, work, and quality time with my little guy for now, plus some much-needed R&R to boost my immune system before diving back into the methotrexate next week. It’s a far cry from the holidays of yesteryear, but hey, I guess I just have to roll with the punches. If you know me then you know how hard the change is but I’m reminding myself this isn’t forever, this is now.

Briggs turned gift-opening into a full-time job after they left, insisting I unbox each present and test them out with him! So, it’s been a day full of trucks, pictures (he got a kids camera), fishie hunting, building and more….. so many activities! 🤣 He kept me busy and time passing.

I’m crossing my fingers that in the next few days, I’ll manage to turn a big corner, charm my way into the infectious disease doctor’s office, and Briggs and I can whip up our own collection of germ-free, immunity-boosting memories! Who knew staying healthy could be so adventurous, (insert sarcasm).

Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of Christmas…. Make memories no matter how….. the how doesn’t matter it’s the who!
